About Us
Select Accounting Services serves the Quad Cities and surrounding areas. We provide affordable accounting services to businesses that don’t have a full-time accounting department or that need expertise in specific areas and don’t have an internal resource to provide that expertise. Services we provide include, but are not limited to, bookkeeping, monthly financial package reporting, cash flow management, Quickbooks set-up and maintenance, financial consulting and budget assistance.
While pursuing our own careers, we saw a need in the small and medium-sized business sector for quality, cost-effective accounting services. With a combined 50 years of accounting experience in a variety of industries, both for-profit and not-for profit, we can address that need. Our clients are primarily small to medium sized businesses that are family owned or closely held.
Our Objective
Select Accounting Services objective is to be a partner in our clients’ business, providing services to help them succeed and accomplish their goals and objectives.
Partners
Jeff Hassel
Jeff Hassel has 25 years of operations and accounting experience. He graduated from the University of Iowa in 1995 earning a bachelor’s degree. He also graduated with two degrees from Saint Ambrose University, a Master of Business Administration in 2000 and a Master of Accounting in 2004. He has been a licensed CPA since 2005. Jeff has lived in the Quad Cities since 1996. He is married and has two daughters. Jeff has been a CFO for a wide range of companies. His experience includes education, health care and manufacturing. Jeff has proven ability in leading strategic initiatives and managing finances for both non-profit and for-profit organizations.
Betsy VanDerSchaaf
Betsy VanDerSchaaf has 25 years of accounting experience. She graduated from University of Illinois in 1993 and earned her C.P.A. the same year. She started her career in public accounting at Price Waterhouse in Chicago. In 2001 she and her husband, Steve, started a family and moved to the Quad-Cities. Since 2001, Betsy has been self-employed providing accounting services to businesses in a variety of industries including non-profits, construction, marketing, and health & fitness, just to name a few. For the last several years, she has also worked at local accounting firms seasonally providing assistance preparing tax returns.
